So…a few weeks ago I found myself crying in my car while listening to a podcast. Yeah.
The past couple of months have been really rough. I’ve been feeling lost and scared and anxious. And then one day while running errands, I was kinda of clicking through podcasts, listening to a few minutes of one show then a few minutes of another show, until I happened upon the episode below, which spoke to my heart so deeply that I burst into tears despite my best effort not to embarrass myself in front of the drivers in the cars beside me.
One of my favorite parts:
“Feeling bad is a signal that our internal guidance system is working perfectly… Imagining persistent negative emotions as Dante’s wild beast, whose job it is to make your life unbearable whenever you stray from your true path.”martha beck
I bought the book as soon as I got back home. And I’ve been reading it ever since. I’ve loved it so much that it is this month’s book club pick: The Way of Integrity by Martha Beck *
I’m actually almost done with the book. This month I really wanted to read the book first before choosing it for our book club, to make sure I could whole-heartedly recommend it, which I whole-heartedly do. I made sure to take notes throughout so I could share some thoughts and hopefully have a little “chat” with you all about our takeaways.
I calculated four chapters a week to finish by the end of the month. Each week I’ll check in with everyone over on Instagram and I would LOVE to read your thoughts and reflections. Hope you can read along!
